While the public often associates independent living and autonomy with adulthood, these skills begin to develop during an individual’s childhood years. Since neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) impose various challenges on human functioning, children with NDD are more likely to become dependent on their parents for an extended period compared to other kids. EDS Therapies Africa strives to bridge this gap by exposing children with NDD to age-appropriate techniques to help them gain the necessary skills for independent living and self-care. This program focuses on developing skills that include:
- Hygiene Management
- Dressing and Grooming
- Oral Care, Hair Care, And Skin Care
- Dressing
- Toileting
Our organization’s lifelong mission is to secure a promising future for African children with neurodevelopmental challenges. If you wish to help us sustain our outreach programs and further our advocacy, consider supporting our advocacy today.
